Erik FendÍk, AIA, NCARB | architectural design portfolio
☻ I am a community-driven, multidisciplinary, international architect with first-hand experience from Toronto and other multicultural cities. I have collaborated with professionals of diverse personal and intellectual backgrounds in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa. I have over a decade of global experience including remote collaboration with David Adjaye's team on the Smithsonian NMAAHC (National Museum of African American History and Culture) on the National Mall in Washington, DC, USA.
☻ I am based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where I solve design and engineering challenges as an architectural designer in a multidisciplinary team of experts at NORR justice studio. I am a licensed architect in Virginia, USA and an active architect member of the AIA (The American Institute of Architects) and NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards). I have been also an official delegate of AIA Canada, a regional chapter of this international professional organization.
☻ I bring an international understanding of design issues and both executive and iterative skills acquired through my daily interactions with other designers, engineers, community and municipal stakeholders. I have extensive design-build expertise in passive design projects and I have instructed BIM (building information modeling), 3D modeling, graphic design to undergraduate students, faculty, and colleagues. I hold M.Arch and MS.Arch degrees from Virginia Tech, VA, USA where I worked as an architectural designer for housing and dining services and a woodshop supervisor.
☻ With a decade of active living and working experience at universities globally, my interest lies in places that share knowledge and engage communities, regardless of a project type or scale. Although I know how building elements come together for efficient design and care about physical spaces, I am drawn the most to people and relationships that create places. Knowing first-hand how our built environment grows, I elevate any carbon-neutral spaces and people-positive places.
☻ Use the navigation on top to flip through several selected projects showing my approach to design and related fields. Each section is presented in a slideshow played automatically, set to 3 second intervals. Alternative navigation is through thumbnails which pause the slideshow when you click on them. Select "play" to resume the slideshow. If you would like to learn more about any project or to see any images in higher resolution, please get in touch with me using the CONTACT instructions.
